Creative writing workshop for educators and trainers, led by Bjorg Arnadottir, is a great opportunity not only to learn a new method of work, but also to experience self-development, creative process and get inspired.
In Atalaya Foundation if we see a consciously used procedure to achieve the intended purpose, we consider it as a method to develop different interpersonal and social skills. With that understanding, we see creative writing as a method to empower our target groups, work on self-esteem – a method aimed not at creating something perfect and beautiful but rather a strategy for empowerment, creating something special and writing down thoughts in order to make them heard.
This inspiring workshop couldn’t have happened without Bjorg – a very inspiring and watchful leader, who flexibly adjusted the program to our needs and interests. We appreciate her attitude, commitment to the group and attention to individual or group needs. She has a powerful courage to try new things. All we experienced was in calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Why taking part? Because education is not the final outcome but the process we took to get there. What we have learned can be applied across many fields in working on just about every subject. It’s also a time to reflect and awaken the creative side which we aren’t always very friendly to.
Some more personal reflections from our team:
I learned a lot and spend valuable time with my team. I got new ideas for my work and learned new perspective on creative writing method or subject as Bjorg would say. After coming back home I boasted with thoughts which resulted in few new poems and ideas for my work as a trainer. I feel good.
What I, as a perfectionist, take personally from Bjorg is the space for doubts, misunderstandings and mistakes. As she said misunderstandings and inner doubts can be very powerful in a group. There starts something new, especially in creativity exercises. I am happy I could take part in this journey. I would recommend it to everyone, who’d like to enrich their trainings with interesting and useful creativity and empowering part of work.
